Dock Office: Please reach out via Dockwa for information.
Ever since The Great Salt Pond became New Harbor almost 120 years ago, the tranquil waters of this incredible natural estuary have become a sought-after safe haven for mariners coming from near and far. Offering both transient and seasonal dockage, Champlin’s is one of New England’s largest resort marinas featuring 4,500+ linear feet of dock space, a 30′ harbor depth, and spacious docking facilities, allowing us to accommodate vessels up to 250+ ft.
COMMON QUESTIONS
QUESTIONS?: The easiest way to reach the marina team is through Dockwa. Send us a message with your question or request, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please include the best way to contact you in the Dockwa message. If you call the hotel front desk, you will be redirected to Dockwa.
VESSEL INFORMATION: It is important that your boat information is accurate on your reservation. This includes the name of the vessel, overall length, beam, and draft. If you arrive and the information is not correct, we may not be able to accommodate you and you will forfeit your deposit. We want you to be able to spend all of your time having fun on Block Island, so please make any corrections and updates prior to arrival.
DOCKS: Champlin's Marina has mostly fixed docks. Floating docks are along the main dock and are only tied stern-to. The tide fluctuates 4-6ft in a day. Consider bringing extra fenders and lines to protect your vessel.
SLIP ASSIGNMENT REQUESTS: While we can't guarantee specific slip assignments, our dock team will do everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Be sure to message us through Dockwa with your request. If you are traveling with a group, please include the vessel names in the "Special Request" box when you submit your reservation. Floating docks are reserved for those with mobility issues. Slip requests are not guaranteed and are at the discretion of the Dockmaster.
POWER PEDESTALS: We feature state-of-the-art and state mandated GFCI pedestals. This a requirement of the National Electrical Code for boater safety. If your boat has a ground fault issue, you may not be able to use any or all your electrical systems. Marinas who have yet be required to upgrade their system, may not have detected this issue and therefore work. We understand this is frustrating, but if you choose not to stay, your deposit is non-refundable. There are no refunds for early departures.
EARLY CHECK-IN REQUESTS: Check-In begins at 2:00PM. We cannot guarantee early check-in, but if we have space available, we are happy to bring you in early. Please reach out to the dock team on channel 11 when you are in the harbor and they will let you know if we have space. If we don't, you can wait in the anchorage area of the Great Salt Pond. There is a launch service and we have a dinghy dock. You are be welcome to utilize the property all day. If we do have space, there is sometimes an hourly charge based on occupancy levels and the time of arrival. Please check with the dock team to confirm any charges.
ARRIVAL QUEUE: On busy days, please expect a queue upon arrival. We will take the boats in the order they arrive and/or as it makes sense for specific slip assignments. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will work through the queue as efficiently as possible.
LATE ARRIVALS: The dock team is available until 7:00pm. If you need to make arrangements for a late check-in, please be sure to do so prior to 5:00pm. There may be additional charges based on the time and the number of dock hands that need to return after hours.
LATE DEPARTURE REQUESTS: Check-out is by 11:00am. We realize that many of you would like to stay later, but it is simply not possible on many days. Please check with the Marina Manager to see if we can accommodate a later departure. When available, hourly fees will apply. We greatly appreciate your understanding and promptness with departures.
DAY DOCKAGE: We offer day dockage when space is available. Day slips are first-come, first-serve, and may not be reserved in advance. Feel free to reach out to us the day before to see what occupancy looks like. Day Dockage is available at 50% of the rate for that day and is typically available from 9:00am to 5:00pm. We also offer an hourly rate, ranging from $20 - $60/hour depending on the size of boat, our occupancy, and the season.
TENDERS: We often do not have space for tenders on the main docks. If we do not have space, tenders under 12’ may be accommodated on our dinghy dock at no charge. Tenders of 13’ or larger require a separate reservation and may be rafted to your boat at the marina’s discretion. If you are rafted, you will receive true-to-size pricing.
GUEST BRACELETS: From July 1 through Labor Day we ask that guests wear bracelets that identify you as a guest. You will need these at the pool and for bikes and water sports. For bikes and water sports, each guest will also need to fill out an insurance waiver. You and your guests can take of these at either the Dock Office or the Hotel Front Desk.
CHAMPLIN’S SHUTTLE: The Champlin’s Shuttle runs from 9:00am to 9:00pm daily during peak season (more limited hours in the shoulder season). The shuttle circles from the property to Aldo’s Bakery in downtown Old Harbor, near the ferry landing. We can also make a stop at the airport upon request. Other stops are not permitted.
Safe travels & We can't wait to see you!
